Hey Guys and Gals!
I wanted to introduce you to Angela Urquhart. Some of you may know that I am in a lot of groups on many of the social network platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the like. I truly like how I am able to see the many different Natural and Spiritual businesses and fanpages that other’s have to offer. This is where I found Angela through her Dramatically Zen Business Facebook Page. I was sent a copy of the book to base this review on. All of my thoughts are of my own and from some of my previous posts you can see that I have and still am trying to live that Dramatically Zen lifestyle.
Packing my bags, prepping, and getting a teensy bit excited for the mini-DZ book tour this week…. First up: Montreal! Hope to see you there! #dramaticallyzen #booktour #montreal #montrealevents #author #goodreads #bookclub #travel #travelblog #travelblogger #wanderlust #welltravelled #thailand #auatralia #bali #batik #globe #orchids #followyourdreams #liveyourbestlife #lovinglife
After chatting with Angela, I noticed that we were not that far from each other. Angela lives in St. Catherine’s Ontario, while I live in Brantford Ontario. Even though we have a 90 minute or so drive from each other we do have a lot of other things in common. Trying to live a Zen inspired life. Her more so than me at this point in time, but I know its only a matter of time before I put into practice some, if not all of her tips and tricks (call to actions) from her book Dramatically Zen.
Celebrated my Ottawa book launch with a perfect event at Pure Kitchen! Beyond thrilled with the turnout – with friends I hadn’t seen in over 10 years attending, and also meeting new friends throughout the day! Filled with gratitude and love for the continued support of DZ! #dramaticallyzen #followyourdreams #purekitchen #ottawa #ottawaevents #book #bookclub #travel #yoga #yogi #organic #balance #wellness #happy #travelblog #lifestyle #spiritjunkie A photo posted by Angela Urquhart Osborne (@dramaticallyzen) on
As you can see from a few of her instagram pictures, Ottawa was where she had her first book launch. She went to the University of Ottawa for her schooling, since she hasn’t seen some friends over the years she thought this would be the perfect spot to get everyone together to celebrate!
In all of her 33 chapters she shares different challenges transformed applicable life lessons, all told through her backpacking travels in Thailand, Australia and Bali. At the end of each chapter is a call to action which you can apply that lesson to your own life and blissful journey.
When I first started reading I wanted to go a little bit more in depth. After I was finished reading each chapter I wrote down in my own personal journal of what I could do in each of my own situations that might be holding me back. This allowed me to open up myself even more throughout the journey of my own personal healing.
My biggest turning points were in places I didn’t expect. I’ve always been hard on myself, reflecting difficult situations in the past where I thought I was not good enough because of some other’s (past relationships I was in that was abused emotionally, physically, and sexually.) It took a huge toll on me. I was always the person to always doubt myself because I had that misfortune of hearing those things over and over again in the back of my mind and they would always resurface. My biggest change happened when I learn to let a few of those things go. So as you can see I have been trying over the last few years to have that belief in myself again. To make me feel whole, to feel that self acceptance and live a more holistic zenful lifestyle. I have been doing a lot of re-reading of Angela’s book because it does speak to me on so many levels. I tend to go back to those chapters I mentioned below and meditate on them more, reflect and write down what ever thoughts come to me, to help get some clarity in what I can do to infuse the benefits of her call to action plans.
This is officially the “About the Author” photo for Dramatically Zen! Things are happening faster than ever for the book release and I am beyond excited! Soon I will have a copy in my hands!!! #dramaticallyzen #author #book #canadianauthor #writer #thailand #australia #bali #inspiration #yoga #yogi #travel #memoir #bookrelease #booklaunch
Each one of us is on our own path. Our own path of self healing, of truly finding our self love and how to help ourselves and other’s. There were quite a few chapters that I had to think, and meditate on and reflect on such as : Let Go of Fear (Life Lesson 9), Step Out of Your Comfort Zone ( Life Lesson 10), Do Something that Scares You ( Life Lesson 26) and I think the most challenging chapter would have to be Work Your Inner Diva ( Life Lesson 24).
I am challenged to find that Inner Diva you could say. To truly want to feel that passion and that aliveness that a lot of woman, if not all want to feel. Angela uses the fun example of Beyonce, and how she changed her outlook on life while she was growing up. Beyonce has that self confidence about herself and within herself – Something Angela was trying to emulate. Within this life lesson chapter she mentions this quote from Patti LaBelle, “Being a Diva means being your best”.
Dramatically Zen has been my go to book over the last few weeks and I know I will be going back over it again and again in the future. Now I don’t want to give the whole book away as it is a MUST READ and for you to take your own journey of living a dramatically zen life.
